Do the two metrics move together immediately, or is there a lag?

  • Revenue changes happen with a lag (people buy, then it shows up in accounts)

If conversion is up but revenue is flat for a week, maybe the conversions aren't paying (or they're low quality).

Test 2: Segment the data

Does the correlation hold across all segments, or just one?

This is statistically significant (not random). But did the change cause it? Only if you changed ONE variable and controlled everything else.
